Celebrate PANAW 2023

February 6-12, 2023, is PeriAnesthesia Nurse Awareness Week (PANAW). This is a great time to celebrate our unique specialty, our colleagues and our departments. Many are not aware of our specialty or who it includes. All nurses who care for patients being sedated for procedures are under the perianesthesia nursing umbrella. Endoscopy? Cardiac Cath Lab? Interventional Radiology? Oral or eye surgery centers? Preanesthesia Testing Clinics? Yes, yes, yes, and yes! In our ever-evolving world of medicine, new technologies and techniques are moving procedures into different arenas. What do they all have in common? Perianesthesia nurses ensure patients are safely cared for before, during and after sedation or anesthesia.

Let's celebrate our special week. Post signs or banners. Have a potluck. Take cookies or cupcakes. Ask your facility for recognition on your website or in your newsletter.
